Gulf Air Pours More Into Formula 1: Partnership with Bahrain Grand Prix Extended Until 2027

With over two decades of sponsorship, Gulf Air’s commitment to the Bahrain GP continues to shine as the airline sets a record for the longest-running F1 partnership.

Gulf Air has officially extended its title sponsorship of the Formula 1 Bahrain Grand Prix through 2027, reinforcing a remarkable partnership that dates back to 2004. As the longest-serving title sponsor in F1 history, this deal further solidifies Gulf Air’s vital role in promoting Bahrain as a hub for international motorsport.

The airline’s continued support has helped position the Bahrain Grand Prix as one of the standout races in the Formula 1 calendar. As the event continues to attract motorsport fans globally, F1’s Chief Commercial Officer, Emily Prazer, emphasized the significance of this long-term commitment. She highlighted Gulf Air’s instrumental role in the race’s success and expressed excitement for future collaborations.

The Bahrain GP made history in 2004 when Michael Schumacher clinched victory in the inaugural race, marking the first-ever F1 race held in the Middle East. Since then, the event has become a staple in F1’s early-season calendar, occasionally serving as the opening race. However, for the 2025 season, it will return to its position as the fourth race, set for April 13, to avoid a conflict with Ramadan.

Gulf Air Group’s CEO, Jeffrey Goh, shared the pride the airline feels in extending the partnership, noting the sponsorship’s contribution to the region’s tourism and economic growth. He also acknowledged the significant global exposure for Bahrain as a leading player in motorsports.

Bahrain International Circuit has recently diversified its events, including hosting Bahrain Comic Con and the Bahrain Darts Masters, showcasing its ability to host a wide array of entertainment beyond motorsport.

This sponsorship extension marks a continued success story for both Gulf Air and Formula 1, cementing the Bahrain Grand Prix as a major international sporting event.
